Fountain Square New Entertainment Stage
Fountain Square as long been considered the symbolic center of Cincinnati, Ohio. Throughout the history of Cincinnati, all major parades, foot races, political events, New Years Celebrations, start and end at Fountain Square. At its center sits the iconic Tyler Davidson Fountain, which highlights the city’s homage to the Ohio River. Fountain Square is encompassed by Fifth Third Center, and therefore has now taken on the identify of Fifth Third Bank.
BHDP Architecture and Motz Engineering worked together to renovate portions of Fountain Square to drastically improve the flow of foot traffic and points of communication between Fifth Third employees and the community. A singular part to making this intersection a huge success if the Fifth Third Entertainment Stage. In the last ten years, Fountain Square has hosted multiple music shows, which support a vibrant Cincinnati Business District after-hours culture. The Entertainment Stage replaces a temporary-permanent set up, the plaza lighting, and point-of-use power requirements for the expansive food truck industry.
Motz Engineering worked with lighting specialty designers, stage consultant designers, and specialty audio visual vendors to develop a highly integrated design package, capable of hosting rock ‘n roll bands or salsa nights, with maximum flexibility. Motz Engineering plumbing and mechanical engineers worked with BHDP Architecture to coordinate drainage and water runoff at the plaza level, to ensure that rainwater properly flowed to the city’s storm water system, without additional penetrations in the plaza membrane – which is coincidentally the roof to the subterranean Fountain Square Parking Garage.
